Enduro - Race Wheels
For the enduro on August 8th race wheels will be permitted on the right side of the car only. This decision was made as a safety measure.
Prizes for Kids - Wed July 28
Perth Live Bait has donated two fishing rods with reels that will be given away to some lucky kids at this weeks races. There will be one for a boy and one for a girl. We will announce on race night how they will be won.
Fan Appreciation Night - Wed August 4th
Reminder to all racers and fans that Wednesday August 4th is fan appreciation night. Racers will be invited to bring their cars at intermission to the start finish line and fans are then invited to come on to the track and meet the racers and see the cars.
Late Models will be parked below the start finish line in the winners circle area due to the recent issues with the tires melting the pavement. All other classes will line up on the track.
Ottawa Citizen - Race Team Printing
If there are any race teams looking to have autograph cards, posters, or any other printing performed please contact our rep Cindy Manor-Kennedy from the Ottawa Citizen.
One race team has already had autograph cards and player cards printed and they look fantastic.
Stittsville Trailer - Canteen Golf cart in the pits
Stittsville Trailer is one of the long time supporters of Capital City Speedway. They have recently donated the use of a golf cart for use by Busters in the pit area.
This allows easier access for Busters to bring food and drinks into the pit area.
Open Practice still going on Monday
Reminder to all teams that there is still open practice on Monday nights from 5-9. There are several teams that have expressed an interest in having practice but have yet to come out.
The cost is only $25 and we also order in pizza and drinks. If you know of a team who needs the practice get them out.
Race Recaps - July 14th
The night started with a 4-fun feature make-up race from two weeks ago. Brian Sehl returned to the track in his #06 car and took the checkered flag in that race, showing fans and racers alike that his car will be a great car to buy for someone who wants to move up to Mini Stock next season. The regular race night kicked off after that, with Mike Attwell taking the checkers in the first 4-for-Fun heat, Quincy Roberts making a come-back in the second heat, and Brooke Cordick, one of the handful of female drivers racing at CapCity this year, getting the win in the Feature.
Doug Mould had a racing hat-trick this past Wednesday, winning both Mini Stock heats and the feature in his #27 Acura Integra. The Mini Stock races continue to be very competitive and exciting to watch each week. The #82 of Kyle Baker held the #27 off for most of the second heat, losing one position at the very end of the race to Mould.
The Thunder Car class put on a good show, proving that the cars can stick on any part of the new surface as they drove 3-wide through the turns on more than one occasion. Jessica Pasinetti tagged the wall as she got caught on the outside of two other drivers, however damage to her car was minimal and she was able to get back out for the feature, finishing 8th out of the 10-car field. Ken Sproule, #99, was the first one to cross the start-finish line as the checkered flag flew in the first heat, with Greg Ogilvie continuing his winning ways in the second heat and the feature.
The 17 cars in the Legends class showed why this class is so popular, as they raced hard, also running 3 and sometimes 4 wide through the turns. Despite several cautions through the night, Chad Windsor managed to continue his winning streak from last week, taking the win in both heats. Matt Mould gave him a run for his money and ended Chad's streak as Mould won the feature race.
The racing was tight throughout the night, with Justin Holtom winning the first heat, "No Hair" Kenny Baird won the second heat, and Tim Dorning took the checkered flag in the feature. The late models had a visiting driver, Cale Bailey, #67 from Peterborough, but made sure to make him feel as welcome as possible. When track staff stopped by his trailer at the end of the night, he was full of excited and happy energy, saying he had a great time and was thrilled with his 7th place finish, his personal best of the season. We're sure we'll see him back at CapCity.
Banner Night - Success
Our inaugural banner night was a success, with 5 amazing signs being showed off by very talented kids. Cars that were represented were: #14 Late Model Sean Kennedy, Legends #1 Steve Yendall, Legends #22 Brent Egan, and Legends #53 of Hugh Clarke. The kids did a quick parade in front of the grandstands to show off their signs / banners and then the audience voted by applause for their favorite. Hugh Clarke's daughters, Hannah and Valerie, were given the honors for this challenge, and had their picture taken with their dad, driver of the #53 Legend car. After giving Dad a kiss on the cheek for luck, the girls took turns to ride in the pace car, saying it was "one of the coolest things ever!"
With this one being such a success, CapCity staff have decided to have ANOTHER banner night, as a "back to school" celebration on September 1st. So, kids, start making your plans of what you want to do for your next sign ... we want enough to have a line of signs going the length of the grandstands!!

and feature wins under his belt including two top three point
finishes at Capital City (2007, 2008). Previous to Legend cars,

At Riverside, Windsor will drive a #5 car sponsored by MacLean
Motorsports, Lucas Oil and Greg Spicer Construction.
“I’m really excited to have a chance to race at a facility such
as Riverside Speedway,” said Windsor. “I’m looking forward to
the chance to meet new people and make new friends in the racing
community in a part of the country I have never been to. I can't
say enough about how much Scott has helped my racing program out
and I’m real excited at the chance to drive his car.”
Scott MacLean is a multi-time track champion at Scotia

“We’re excited to have Chad out here for the weekend,” said
MacLean, owner of MacLean Motorsports. “Chad runs our chassis
and setup on his race car in Ontario and we’re pumped to have
him here to race at Riverside!”

Two Ottawa Legends Racers at Million Dollar Race
Dave Riopelle #92 and Kevin Foisy #55 made the trip south to participate in this first Legends Million Dollar Race. Looking at Charlotte Motorspeedway's website, a few updates have been posted so far, showing Kevin qualifying 8th for the Masters A-Main - by winning the A-Main, he would win $30,000 and get the chance to "make a deal", to give that back to the track and compete in the Million Dollar Race, where he'd be guaranteed $10,000 in winnings (for last place), and $250,000 for first place.
Dave Riopelle has registered to run the Million Dollar Race and finished 9th in his heat. There were 10 heat races for the Million Dollar qualifying.
David Ragan, NASCAR Cup Driver and son of Ken Ragan, President of US Legend Cars International finished first in his heat, putting him in second position for the Million Dollar Race.
A total of 10 Legends Million division heat races were completed Friday to set the top-20 starting spots in Saturday’s A-Feature, and the top two finishers in each heat transferred into the main event. The next 10 positions in the Legends Million starting field will be set by the results of Saturday’s B-Feature races. Two additional spots will be determined Saturday as the winners of the Semi-Pro/Young Lions and Masters division A-Main races may enter the Legends Million field through a “Deal or No Deal.” This option gives them the opportunity to keep their $25,000 and $30,000 purses respectively or forfeit a portion of those winnings to enter the Legends Million. A final promoter’s provisional driver could be added to the A-Feature.
Double Feature this Wednesday - 4-Fun
Using the same format as on July 7th, we will be running a single Feature Makeup for the 4-for-Fun class at the next races which were rained out, July 14th. The Feature Makeup will begin immediately after practice is over and the driver’s meeting has concluded. The June 30th points page will be updated again once this race has been held.
Race Recaps - July 7th
Congratulations to Chad Windsor who had the equivalent of a Grand Slam at the races this past week. He won all 4 races that were run – Feature Makeup, both Heats, and the regular Feature. Needless to say, he and his father/crew chief, Dave Windsor, were all-smiles after the races.
It was a great Thunder Car race, with the #80 rookie car of Derek Horsley giving everyone a run for their money and making fans and staff ask each other, “where did he come from?” Unfortunately, during post race inspection he was disqualified and the win goes to the #7 of Greg Ogilvie, who had finished second in the feature. We’re expecting to see more great things from the #80 car in coming weeks – just goes to show what practice can do for a driver.
Late Model features were doubled up this week and a strong showing by many drivers. The first feature was won by the #17 of Sean "Bull Dog" Kennedy. With the double purse put up for this race it seems every time more money is put up Kennedy dials it up a notch. The second feature had some great side by side racing. Justin Holtom took the #17 Top Hat Chevrolet to victory lane with the 88 of Tim Dorning chasing him down. Ken Baird, Steve Munro, and Sean Kennedy rounded out the top 5.
18 Mini-stocks tool to the track for their feature. With plenty of on track excitement behind him Casey Cavanaugh picked up his first win of the season. There have been several feature winners already and the points chase is closing up. Kyle Baker with his second place finish in the feature moved up two spots in the points. Sean Ethier, David Greenburg, and Mike Oakly rounded out the top 5. The mini-stocks are putting on a great show from week to week and there are some drivers making moves for the championship.
4-fun has a driver looking to dominate the season. Quincy Roberts went 3 for 3 winning all heat races and the feature. With this showing the weight will be going in to help equal out the field. The #17 of Brooke Cordick has been right behind Quincy in each race so look for her to start pressuring the 71 of Quincy.
Rained out Enduro Reschedule - 200 laps Sun Aug 8th
The Enduro Race that was rained out on June 16th has been rescheduled to Sunday August 8th. The 200-lap event will start at 1:00, with pit gates opening at 10am, and main gates opening at noon. The starting order for the line-up will be based on the order teams sign in at the gate. The 8-cylinder class will receive $1000 (1st = $500, 2nd = $200, 3rd = $150, 4th = $100, 5th = $50). The 4-cylinder class will receive $500 (1st = $250, 2nd = $100, 3rd = $75, 4th = $50, 5th = $25). Both classes will run together. Teams are to provide 2 scorers, who will sit in the stands below the tower and (independently) mark down the time that their driver crosses the start-finish line – their time-sheets will be handed in to track staff for validation at the end of the race.
Because of the new asphalt, the flagmen will be strict in asking cars to go to the pit area to perform repairs on their vehicle if there is potential damage to the track surface (blown tires, dragging body panels or frame pieces, etc.). If the identified car does not repair their vehicle, the field will be Red Flagged and that car will be disqualified. No race cars, race wheels, or tires will be allowed.
Teams are encouraged to pre-register their car entry with Jeremy Coulter.

Banner Night - This Wednesday July 14
Kids, don’t forget to make up a sign on a poster board for your favorite driver!! The banners will be voted on by the fans in the grandstands, and the winner will get a picture with ‘their’ driver and their car, and get to ride in the pace-car for the Features!!
Staff Tricycle race - Tricycles needed
As part of an intermission show, we’re asking drivers, crews, or fans to donate a kids’ tricycle for some of our staff to race around the track. They’ll be starting mid-way on the backstretch, and finishing at the flag stand – given how competitive everyone is, it’s bound to be VERY entertaining! We haven’t set a firm date yet, but are hoping for a night in July. If you have a non-motorized (ha ha, we have to keep it fair!) tricycle that you can donate, please email Miranda.
Hinton Automotive night - rescheduled for August 18
With Hinton Automotive night being rained out a few weeks ago we have rescheduled it for Wednesday August 18th. Performance customers of Hinton's should check with them to see about coming out to the speedway that night.
U of Ottawa Super Mileage car - testing
The University of Ottawa has done some testing of their super mileage car at Capital City Speedway and they will be back on Thursday July 15th for more testing. The team from Ottawa U will be at the races as well on Wednesday night. find out more on the car and the team at http://uosupermileage.ca/
Legends are running for points this week
We had considered making this week a non-points race since the million dollar race is on this weekend in Charlotte. We need to consider what is best for the track so this week Legends will still be running for points. INEX points will also be awarded after a discussion with INEX that points can be awarded up to and including Wednesday night this week.
Double Features this Wednesday - Late Model and Legends
Well we almost got the features in this week but the skies opened up, again. Next week, as soon as practice is over we will run the Late Model and the legends features from this past week. What this means is fans will get to see two features for these classes on Wednesday July 7th. With these two classes turning the fastest lap times at Capital City Speedway it will be twice the excitement this week. For the drivers of these classes they will be running for double purse in the first feature and regular purse in the second feature. This is of course if mother nature is kind to us this week.
$5 Front Gate fee - July 7 races
As a special thank you to the fans who have been great so far this season despite the rain, Capital City Speedway will be having a $5 night this Wednesday. All regular main gate entrance fees will be only $5, kids 6 and under are still free of course.
Once again, a huge thank you to all of our fans.
Driver Line-ups - if a car is missing
How are line ups affected when a car doesn’t come out for a heat/feature? The CapCity staff have discussed this issue and have decided on the following to avoid confusion and help keep the show moving smoothly:
- if cars are still in single-file, the cars behind the missing car will move up one ‘actual’ position. This means they will be lined up according to the order they came out in, with the first car going on pole, second on the outside, third inside, fourth outside, etc.
- if the cars are already doubled-up and a car drops to the back, the line that now has a gap will move up. The other line is not affected.
New Position/Posting - clean up after race day
CapCity staff are looking for an individual to perform garbage collection after race-day. This position pays $50/week. Duties must be performed on Thursday during the day. The new staff member will be cleaning the grandstands of any debris (both on the benches and underneath the stands), emptying all garbage cans around the facility, putting in empty bags, and throwing all of the full bags into the large Waste Management bin onsite. Interested candidates, please email Miranda Coulter.
Water Treatment - still needed
We posted a while back that we are in need of water treatment at the speedway. With a high content of sulphur in the water we are looking for a company to assist in exchange for advertising and being the exclusive water treatment company to Capital City Speedway. If you know of someone or your company can help please email Jeremy Coulter
Practice Night - every Monday
Just a reminder that every Monday night is open practice night at Capital City Speedway. If you need some track time, want to do some testing, or you are a newer driver this is the best time to come to the track. Practice night is only $25 per car and we have been ordering pizza at the track as well for those who are hungry.
